The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress is pleased to announce the creation of the Nate Morris Fellowship at the University of Kentucky, George Washington University, and Princeton University, in recognition of Mr. Morris through the gift of the Morris Foundation. These gifts bring the CSPC Presidential Fellows Program to the University of Kentucky for the first time ever, help expand the program at George Washington University making it available for all students, and expand the CSPC program at Princeton to include graduate students. The Nate Morris Fellowship at the University of Kentucky will expand the Fellows Program to include a participant from the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, where Morris serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council and is the College’s first entrepreneur-in-residence. “We’re excited to expand our Fellows Program to include a student from the University of Kentucky", said CSPC President & CEO, former Representative Glenn Nye. "At a time when public-private partnerships are increasingly needed to solve major national challenges, a fellow studying business and economics will provide unique perspectives. We thank Nate for his leadership and generosity, as well as the example he provides as an alumnus giving back to this program." The Nate Morris Fellowship at Princeton University will expand the Fellows Program to include a participant from the University’s School of Public and International Affairs, where Morris attended as a graduated student. “We’re excited to expand our Fellows Program to include a graduate student from Princeton University. We thank Nate for his leadership as well as the example he provides as an alumnus giving back to this program,” said Nye. "I am honored to be able to provide the CSPC Presidential Fellowship for SPIA graduate students for years to come," said Nate Morris, Founder & CEO of Rubicon. "This experience had a transformational effect on my life and my role as a social entrepreneur." Nate Morris is the chairman and founder of Lexington, Kentucky-based Morris Industries, and its signature asset, Rubicon, a widely acclaimed software company focused on waste and recycling. Morris, a ninth-generation Kentuckian born in Lexington and raised by a single mother in a union household, attended public schools and was the first Kentuckian to be named to Fortune Magazine's 40 Under 40 list and to be recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. He is also the youngest inductee ever to the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. Morris is a senior advisor to the Atlantic Council's Scowcroft Center for Security, a member of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a member of the Trilateral Commission, and a Fulbright Specialist Scholar. The CSPC Presidential Fellows Program was founded in 1970 to bring together future leaders and policymakers. The non-resident fellowships have been expanded over the years to span the United States, as well as international students. Fellows generally are undergraduates from leading universities and colleges, and participating institutions include Harvard, MIT, Stanford, and Princeton. Fellows participate in fall and spring semester conferences in Washington, DC, to meet with policymakers, discuss their work on historical research or current policy issues, and network with peers beginning careers in public service.
